Recap of BASIC
class and group procedures
These class procedures will
help us work better and more efficiently
in a relaxing environment.
We will practice them in class until they are PERFECT!
"Hello! / Good morning! / Good afternoon!"
(+ "I'm sorry I'm late; may I come in?")
(+ "I'm sorry I'm late; may I come in?")
- Entering class and settling down:
>> Calmly go to your desk
2. Take out all your necessary materials from your bag, and set them on your desk.
3. Turn off / Silence your cell phone, and leave it in your bag.
4. Put your bag on the floor.
5. Stop making noise.
6. Stand behind your desk, silently.
7. Sit down when the teacher gives you the signal.
- Calling for attention: "Class! 5, 4, 3, 2, 1."
>> Stop what you are doing (chatting, writing, talking with your group mates...) and look at the teacher.
>> Listen to the teacher, and follow ALL instructions.
This must be done by EVERYONE before the end of the countdown. Help one another out, to make sure the whole class is focused!
>> Wait for "Carry on" signal to resume activity.
- Practicing and revising - checking understanding : "Teach and Switch"
>> "You teach!" = one pupil (at his desk) recaps the main points of the lesson to his neighbor; he repeats them continuously until the teacher says "Now switch!". The partner can help !
>> "Now switch!" = the pupils change roles until the teacher says "Now stop."
- Leaving class:
>> When you get up to leave your seat and table, push your chair REALLY neatly under the table.
>> Make sure there is no rubbish on the table or on the floor.
- If you are late (this must be exceptional):
- At the beginning of the class, the recap:
(= Qu'a-t-on fait en cours la dernière fois ?)
>> "Last time, we + verb in the simple past." >> Last time, we watched a video.
(= La dernière fois, nous avons...) / we had a test.
/ we did some exercises.
/ we answered questions about the new document.
/ we...
2) "What did you have to do for today?" = "What was your homework for today?"
(= Que fallait-il faire pour aujourd'hui ? / Quels étaient les devoirs pour aujourd'hui ?)
>> "For today, we HAD to + BV" >> For today, we had to learn our lesson.
(= Pour aujourd'hui, nous devions / il fallait...) / we had to do an exercise.
/ we had to go on the blog (and follow the instructions).
/ we had to answer some questions.
/ we had to read a text (/ the text you gave us last time).
/ we had to describe a picture.
/ we had to bring our textbooks.
/ we had to...
"Good-bye! / Have a nice day! / Have a nice evening! /
See you tomorrow! / See you next week! / See you next time!"
