1) This is the recap for the video, and the lesson that Group 1 (and the absent pupils from Group 2) must copy and learn:
We watched a documentary about Vivian Maier, a female street photographer who took* candid photos (= qui prenait des photos prises sur le vif) of her subjects: the people she photographed were caught unawares (to be caught unawares = être pris par surprise, au dépourvu). Mrs. Maier, however (= cependant), was very respectful (= respectueuse) of the people she portrayed.
(* to take, took, taken)
2) This is your homework for:
> Tuesday, November 7th:
a) Learn all vocabulary in the 6 boxes, page 81. Learn your lessons and revise your lessons.
b) Make sentences expressing opposition, using the following link words (= en utilisant les connecteurs logiques suivants):
CE QUI SUIT (= les 8 lignes qui suivent) EST AUSSI À RECOPIER DANS LES CAHIERS ET À APPRENDRE.
- whereas + clause (= proposition = Sujet + verbe conjugué)
- unlike / contrary to + Nominal group
= Conversely, ... (mot en apposition, séparé de la suite par une virgule)
Examples:
Tom is sleeping, whereas (= alors que) Jill is eating (= proposition).
Unlike Tom, Jill is eating.
Contrary to Tom who is sleeping (= groupe nominal), Jill is eating.
Jill is eating. Conversely, Tom is sleeping.
>> Oppose Margaret Bourke-White and Vivian Maier:
MBW : famous / photography = her job / her photos = carefully planned portraits
VM : anonymous / photography = her passion, not her job : she was a nanny / her photos = instant photos
= three sentences (one for each structure)
>> Make more sentences (at least 6 = au moins 6) about any other subject. For example: "My dog is old, whereas my cat is young."
You can make your sentences more interesting and/or funnier, of course !
> Wednesday, November 8th / Thursday, November 9th:
